Ihme

Olisikohan viimein aika laittaa Vietnam pakettiin ja jatkaa matkaa uusiin maisemiin. Koska asetuin Hoi Aniin viikoksi alkoi maassaolo aikani lipumaan käsistä, niinpä suuntasin yöbussilla suoraan Hanoihin. Kaupunki itsessään ei tehnyt suurtakaan vaikutusta. Paljon hehkutettu Old Quarter ei tarjonnut minulle juuri mitään, lukuunottamatta herkullisia juomia markkinoilla. Joitakin nähtävyyksiä kävin kiertämässä, mutta silti kaupungista jäi jotenkin valju kuva. Toisaalta tänne en ollutkaan tullut jäädäkseni vaan suuntasin loistavaan matkatoimistoon buukkaamaan risteilyä Halong Bayhin, joka olikin pääsyy paluuseeni Vietnamiin. Tarkoituksena oli nähdä tämä maailman kuulu ilmestys yhdessä ystäväni kanssa, mutta poikkeavasta matkailubudjetista johtuen päädyin tekemään retken itsekseni. Matkatoimisto antoi useammankin vaihtoehdon yhdestä yöstä kahteen yöhän ja hintahaitariltaan minulle sopivia vaihtoehtoja. Löysin mieleiseni ja pian matka taas jatkui.

Old Quarter in Hanoi

Yhtiö poimi minut matkaan hotelliltani aamutuimaan ja matka satamaan alkoi. Siellä saimme liput ja nousimme pieneen veneeseen, joka kuljetti meidät varsinaiselle aluksellemme. Joka oli kohtuullisen viehättävä ja juuri sopivan kokoinen pienelle joukollemme. Olin varannut makuupaikan jaetusta hytistä ja ilokseni muita jakajia matkaan ei osunut ja sain oman hytin. Hyvillä mielin olin valmis suuntaamaan kauan odottamaani kohteeseen ja tuntui hyvältä kun tuuli heilutti hiuksia veneen lipuessa kohti upeita maisemia. Näky sai minut haukkomaan henkeä, en ollut osannut odottaa mitään näin kaunista. Sää helli meitä auringon paisteella ja kirkkaalla kelillä.

Halong Bay

Ensimmäinen päivämme veneellä oli hieman liian aktiivinen minun makuuni, ohjelmaa oli aamusta iltaan, eikä aikaa levähtää ja pysähtyä näihin upeisiin maisemiin tuntunut löytyvän. Seikkailimme luolan uumenissa ja vaikka se olikin upea ilmestys, olisin mielummin jättänyt sen väliin. Toisaalta melominen näiden upeiden muodostelmien seassa oli elämys, jota en olisi jättänyt väliin mistään hinnasta ja siihen olisin toivonut jopa hieman enemmän aikaa. Uimaankin pääsimme yhden saaren rantaan, nähdessäni täyteen pakatun hiekkarannan, jossa suuret roska- ja jäteleutat kelluivat, päätin pysyä kuivalla maalla ja kivuta näköalapaikalle, josta avaituikin hulppeat näkymät. Olin tyytyväinen kun päivän aktiviteetit päätyivät illalliseen ja rauha laskeutui yön myötä. Hiivin kannelle olueni kanssa ja ihastelin näkymää, jota tuskin koskaan tulen unohtamaan. Siinä istuessani ja katsellessani muiden veneiden yössä loistavia valoja, tajusin kuinka onnellinen oikein olenkaan. Kuinka ainutkertaisesta elämyksestä tässä olikaan kyse. Muistan yhä elävästi sen onnen tunteen joka hiipi sisimpääni. Mieltäni ei latistanut edes ohilipuva soutuvene, josta kaikui huudot ostaa juomia ja tuliaisia. Olin maailman äärellä itsekseni, enkä olisi voinut olla onnellisempi.

Seuraavana päivänä suuntasimme kiertoteitse takaisin satamaan ja nautin päivästä enemmän kuin edellisen päivän aktiviteetti ryntäyksestä. Sain ihastella maisemia rauhassa, eikä näkymään voi kyllästyä. Halong Bay on yksinkertaisesti ihme, todellinen ilmestys. Ainakin aurinkoisella säällä se on henkeä salpaavan kaunis. Olisin mielelläni ollut vielä toisenkin yön, valitettavasti Laos kutsui minua. Mutta olen iloinen että palasin Vietnamiin ja näin jotain näin upeaa. Ryhmämme veneellä oli kohtuullisen pieni ja kirjava, seura miellyttävää. Vaikka suurimman osan ajasta nautinkin omassa seurassa ja hiljaisuudessa näkyä itseeni imien.

Wonder

I think it’s time to close chapter Vietnam and head to see different scenery in different country. Because I ended u staying in Hoi An for whole week I was running out of the time. My only option was to take night bus to Hanoi. I have a day to go around city, but it just did not appeal to me at all. Much raised Old Quarter didn’t offer me anything, except tasty drinks on the market. I did go around to see some sites, but still the City was blame. Luckily I wasn’t staying here any longer, I headed straight to excellent travel agency recommended by other traveller and booked cruise to Halong Bay, which after all was my main reason for return to Vietnam. Original plan was to see this wonder together with my friend, but uneven travel budget made us to choose different trips and I headed to the harbour on my own. Travel agency gave me several options with my budget to choose for, there were cruises from one to two nights. I found one to please me and head on the next morning.

Company picked me up at the hotel in the morning and I was ready to go. Tour guide gave us our tickets and off we went to this little boat which took us on the ship. Boat was actually quite charming and good size for our little group. I did booked bed from shared cabin to save some money and pleasant surprise was that no one else wasn’t sharing and I got the whole cabin for myself. I was pretty happy the choices I’ve made so far and I was ready to see long waited sight. It was great to feel wind blowing your hair when getting closer for this amazing view. Sight of the bay was taking breath away from me, I wasn’t prepared to see anything this beautiful after all. We were really lucky with the weather, we got sunny and clear day, all we could hope for.

First day on the boat was bit too active for my taste as we had schedule from the morning till the evening and no time to stop and admire the beauty of this place. We went to big cave which was quite impressive, but I would have rather skipped that. Then other hand kayaking on the bay was something I would haven’t miss in any chase, it was incredible and actually I hoped we would have had more time for it. We got chance to go for a swim too in one of the islands, but I choose not to after seeing how packed the beach was and how much rubbish was floating on the water. I decided to walk up to the hill and enjoy great view instead and I absolutely loved it up there. I was more than happy when the silence and peace took the place after dinner. I sneaked out on the deck with bear and looked around. This was moment I’ll never forget, I was watching light of other boats and in that moment I just realized how happy I am to be there. This moment was unique and happiness in my side was something I cannot describe. I was on the other end of the world and couldn’t be any happier.

Next day we cruised along the bay slowly back to the harbour. Day was more enjoyable with no rush to anywhere, just chilling on the deck while rock formations passing by. I would never get tired for the view. Halong bay is miracle, simply just miracle. Specially in sunny weather it is breath-taking. I wish I would have had another night to spend on the bay, but unfortunately Laos was calling. I felt happy, that I did made my way back to Vietnam and saw something incredible like Halong Bay. Group and staff on the boat was small and mixed, but it was nice group and we did have a great time together. Even I spent most of the time on my own just enjoying the whole experience.

After cruise bus took us back to Hanoi. I had dinner with friends and we made last-minute arrangements for the next day. Laos here we come…

Viisumi ~ Visa

Viisumi

Koska aikeenani on viipyä Thaimaassa hieman pidempään oli lähdettävä viisumin hakuun jo etukäteen. Haaveilemani kolme kuukautta tosin supistui noin puoleen alkuperäisestä, mutta silti riittävän kauan, jotta 30nen päivän oleskelulupa ei riittäisi. Päätin hoitaa viisumi asian kuntoon ennen kuin suuntaisin kiertomatkalle ystäväni kanssa ympäri Vietnamia, Kambodzaa ja Laosia. Vaihtoehtoinani oli lentää Kuala Lumpuriin tai Singaporeen. Koska tiesin entuudestaan Singaporen kalliiksi, päädyin suosiolla Kuala Lumpuriin. Haaveenani oli hakea viisumi pikaisesti ja suunnata muille maille. Toisin kuitenkin kävi. Sillä olin katsonut suurlähetystän aukioloajat huolimattomasti. Suurlähetystäö oli kyllä auki arkisin lähes koko päivän, mutta viisumin haku aika olikin jo aamupäivästä, joten en ehtinyt saapumistani seuraavana päivänä asiaa hoitamaan. Ja koska viikonloppu oli edessä, tiesin ettei asia etene ennen maanantaita ja senkin jälkeen varauduin viikon odotteluun.

Maanataina siis uusi yritys, löysin suurlähetystön helposti ja olinkin siellä vartti aukeamisen jälkeen, jolloin porukkaa oli jo sankoin joukoin. Portilla annoin tietoni, sain hakemuskaavakkeen täytettäväkseni. Hain jonotusnumeron ja jäin odottelemaan, minun ennen oli vielä liki 30 henkilöä. Kun oli minun vuoroni huomasin ettei passin kopiota ollutkaan mukanani, onneksi tien toisella puolella oli kopiointi palvelu ja pian olinkin jo takaisin jonossa, kaikki paperit kunnossa. Ojennettuani kaikki tarvittavat paperit passikuvineen virkailijalle jäin jälleen odottelemaan. Hetken kuluttua oli jälleen vuoroni ja tällä kertaa maksoin luukulle turistiviisumimaksun (110MYR), sain kuitin mukaan ja kehoituksen tulla hakemaan passi seuraavana iltapäivänä. Rumba kesti kaikkineen vajaa pari tuntia, ei paha. Viisumin voi maksaa ainoastaan käteisellä, kortteja ei hyväksytä maksuvälineenä.

Viisumin haku oli ajoitettu iltapäivään ja jälleen kerran olin etuajassa, en tosin ollut ainoa, sinne vaan taas jonon jatkoksi odottelemaan että portit aukeavat. Viisi minuuttia sen jälkeen kun ovet avattiin olin jo ulkona passini kanssa, ihailin uutta ja tuoretta Thaimaan viisumia. Nyt alkoi menomonoa kutkuttamaan. Kohta mennään taas kohti aivan uusia seikkailuja. Tosin Thaimaa on vasta siellä joukon hännillä, jos nyt ensin vaikka suuntaisi Vietnamiin ihmettelemöön maailman menoa.

Voin siis lämpimästi suositella viisumin hakua Kuala Lumpurista mikäli sen hankinta on ajankohtaista matkan aikana. Minulla on nyt liki 3 kuukautta aikaa saapua Thaimaaseen. Ajat ja ohjeet kannattaa käydä kurkkaamassa Thaimaan suurlähetystön Kuala Lumpurin sivuilta. Tällä erää haku tapahtuu aamupäivästä ja viisumin nouto seuraavana iltapäivänä, eli turhan kauaa ei tarvitse aikaa varata viisumin odottelua varten.

Hakemuksessa vaaditaan lento tiedot maahan saapumisesta, varmistin tämän vielä etukäteen suurlähetystöstä. Niinpä olin hankkinut sekä meno- että poistumislennon Thaimaaseen, ettei vain viisumihakemus kaadu niiden puitteeseen. Kukaan ei minulta lentolippuja kysellyt vaan riitti ne tiedot mitä hakemukseen olin laittanut saapumisesta.

Visa

Because I will stay in Thailand for little longer I had to apply visa earlier. I did plan to stay 3 months in Thailand, but actually that will be about half of the tim but it’s still over a month and visa is required. I will head to travels with my friend soon, we gonna go around Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. That’s why I wanted to apply my visa now, so it won’t slow down us later. I had two option: to fly to Singapore or fly to Kuala Lumpur. I knew that Singapore is fairly expensive and that’s why I am now in KL. I hoped to finish my business quickly, but it didn’t happen either. I watch the opening times of Embassy and yep they were correct times, but I just didn’t realized that they only handle visa application in the mornings. So I missed my chance and weekend was ahead so I knew I’ll be staying bit longer in KL. I booked hostel for little longer as I thought getting Visa would take up to 1 week.

So another try on Monday. I found Thai Embassy easily and was there about 15 minutes after they opened the gate and there were lots of people with their applications already. On the gate I gave my details and they gave me application form to fill. I filled it and went to queue for the counter, there was about 30 people ahead of me. When it’s finally was my turn I realized I didn’t have my copy of passport with me. Luckily there is hotel other side of the road where you can get the copies. And soon I was back in the queue again, this time everything was correctly filled. After handling my papers and picture it was time to wait a bit more. It didn’t take too long and it was my turn again, I payed my tourist visa (110MYR) and they gave me receipt and asked me to come back on next day to collect my visa. All this took less than 2 hours, so not bad at all. Notice that you only can pay by cash, no card accepted.

It’s only afternoons you can collect your visa, this time I was early and join the queue out side of the embassy. I was out of the Embassy in five minutes after they opened the gate, so it really didn’t take long to queue and collect my visa. Now I had brand new Thai visa attached to my passport, so cool. And I am ready to head on. Thailand is the last stop on this tour which will soon start from Vietnam.

I can recommened to get you visa in Kuala Lumpur if you are already on the road and will need it soon. There is almost three months time to enter Thailand. Please do check times and instructions from the Thai embassy website before hand. In the mornings you can apply Visa and collecting it would be on the next afternoon. So it seems like you don’t need to hung around too long in KL just for waiting to get your visa.

On the form you need to fill your flight details to Thailand and I did contact embassy about this and they did confirm it. I had ticket to and from Thailand, just in case, I really didn’t want anything to stop me to getting this visa. But no one did ask my tickets, it was enough that I filled the information to the form.

Ympäri Sumatraa ~ Around Sumatra

Näin me matkustimme Sumatralla:

Banda Aceh lentokenttä – majapaikka

Kun saavuimme Banda Acehiin illalla otimme taksin lentokentältä suoraan Guesthousille, matka kesti ehkä noin 20 minuuttia ja maksoi 80 000 IDR.

Banda Aceh – Pulau Weh

Laiskuuttaame otimme lennosta becakin (sivuvaunullinen moottoripyörä) ja suuntasimme Uleh-leh satamaan 25 000 IDR hintaan.

Siellä valitsimme nopean veneen sijaan isomman autolautan, joka lähti sataman oikealta puolelta. Liput saatiin hankittua laivan edustalla olevasta pienestä katoksesta. Kaikkine kuluineen lipun yhteishinnaksi tuli 24 500 IDR. Ylitys Pulau Wehille kesti noin 2 tuntia, mutta laiva lähti noin 45 minuuttia etuajassa aikataulustaan.

Pulau Wehin satamaan päästyämme jatkoimme jälleen matkaa becakilla aina saaren toisella puolella sijaitsevalle Lumba Lumballe, jossa yövyimme. Tämä matka kesti vajaan tunnin verran ja maksoi 80 000 IDR.

Becak

Pulau Weh – Banda Aceh

Palasimme saarelta kutakuinkin samallalailla kun sinne menimmekin. Emme tosin saaneet aamun aikaiselle lähdölle becak kuskia, joita ei saaren siinä osassa asustele, vaan jouduimme varaamaan taxikuljetuksen valmiiksiedellisenä iltana noutamaan meitä heti aamusta. Taksi satamaan maksoi 150 000IDR. Lautta takaisin mantereelle oli kaikkine kuluineen yhteensä 25 000 IDR. Ja becak kuski muutaman nähtävyyden kautta takasin Banda Acehin keskustaan 30 000IDR.

Banda Acehissa

Liikuimme ainoastaan becakeilla, koska ne ovat taxeja halvempia ja minne tahansa kaupungin sisällä menikin, oli hinta 20 000IDR ja tämä taisi olla sama, jonka paikallisetkin maksavat.

Banda Aceh – Danau Toba

Päätimme lähteä Banda Acehista yötä vasten, jottemme saapuisi Medaniin illalla tai yöllä vaan pääsisimme jatkamaan matkaa suoraan seuraavaan kohteeseen eli Toba Järvelle. Jälleen kerran aloitimme matkan becak kyydillä, maksoimme 30 000 IDR tästä noin vartin matkasta Terminal Bus Senti linja-autoasemalle.

Tinkasimme Medaniin lähtevän yöbussin hinnan 150 000 IDR, saatuamme tietää bussin saapuvan perille aamu 8:lta. Niinpä hyppäsimme ilmastoituun bussiin 18.30 ja olimme seuraavana aamuna 6.30 perillä.

Medanissa saavuimme Pinang Baris bus terminaaliin ja bussi kohti Tobaa taas lähti Amplas bus terminaalilta toiselta puolen Medania. Tämän välin istuimme jälleen becakin kyydissä, matka taisi kestää reilu puoli tuntia. Kuski tipautti meidät tienvarteen, josta kyydin tarjoajat meidät kyllä löysivät ennen kuin pääsimme ajokista ulos. Aikamme seisoskeltua ja meininkiä ihmeteltyä meille selvisi että tämä kaaoottinen risteys oli se asema, johon halusimmekin. Meille tarjottiin kyytiä sekä kimppataksilla (minivan) että isommalla bussilla (public bus) siinä risteyksessä pönöttäessämme.

Valitsimme kyydin taksilla, sillä saimme hinnan tingattua suhteellisen alas ja voittaisimme aikaa, suuremman bussin aikatauluun verrattuna ainakin tunnin. Eli Amplasilta ilmastoidulla autokyydillä suoraan Parapatin satamaan. Aikaa kului liki 4 tuntia ja hinta per henkilö oli 50 000 IDR.

Sitten olikin edessä vielä etapin viimeinen vaihe, venematka Tuk Tukille. Satamassa oli muutama pienehkö vene, joista toiseen oli selkeästi kirjoitettu määränpää. Kapusimme siis veneeseen ja istuimme alas nauttimaan puolen tunnin veneajelusta kauniilla järvellä. Veneellä työskennellyt poika kävi keräämässä lipunhinnan, joka oli 10 000 IDR ja tiedusteli samalla missä haluaisimme jäädä pois. Koska meillä ei ollut majoitusta hankittuna etukäteen, pyysimme viemään satamaan, josta voimme jatkaa jalkaisin.

Jäimme tyhjälle pikkuiselle laiturille ihmeissämme mihin suuntaan lähtisimme majoitusta etsimään. Tämä oli ensimmäinen paikka, jossa meidän ympärillämme ei häärinyt becak- tai taksikuskeja. Täällä ei yksinkertaisesti ollut kumpiakaan. Niinpä nostimme rinkat selkään ja lähdimme etsimään majapaikkaa, kävellen.

Danau Toba – Bukit Lawang

Koska Toballe saapuminen oli tuskien taival ja halusimme välttää Medanin, päädyimme varaamaan Turisti bussin Parapatista aina Bukit Lawangiin asti. Varauksen teki puolestamme Liberta Guesthousen väki, saimme lipun, josta maksoimme varausmaksun ja loppusumman maksoimme ennen matkan alkua matkatoimistoon Parabatissa.

Ensin siis aamutuimaan 8.30 laiturille odottamaan venettä, joka veisi meidät Parabatiin 10 000 IDR hintaan. Maksoimme matkan toimistoon, joka sijaitsi heti laivalta poistuttaessa torin kulmassa, ja hyppäsimme tila-autoon. Kaikkineen meitä matkustajia oli 6, joista 4 jatkoi aina Bukit Lawangiin asti. Lounas taukoineen tämä matka kesti noin 8 tuntia ja maksoi 160 000 IDR. Auto vei niin pitkälle kuin Bukit Lawangissa pääsee ja loppu matka majoitukseen oli käveltävä. Saimme heti paikallisen opastamaan meitä oikeaan suuntaan, tuleva majapaikkamme oli noin 15minuutin kävelymatkan päässä, muttei suinkaan polun viimeisin yöpaikka.

Bukit Lawang – Medan

Koska totesimme edellisellä taipaleella turisti bussin helpoksi ja edulliseksi, turvauduimme siihen tälläkin kertaa. Varasimme jälleen majapaikasta kyydin seuraavalle aamulle. Tarvoimme rinkkojen kanssa lähtö paikalle ja nousimme jo ennakkoon maksettuun ajoneuvoon. Matka taisi taittua noin 3,5 tunnissa aivan hotellin ovelle saakka ja hintaa tuli 100 000 IDR.

Medan keskusta – Kuala Namu lentokettä

Tiedustellessamme lentokenttäkuljetusta hotelliltamme lentokentälle saimme kaksi vaihtoehtoa, joka shuttle bus 250 000 rupian hintaan taikka taxi noin 150 000 rupian hintaan. Yllättävää, mutta päädyimme jälkimmäiseen vaihtoehtoon. Hotellilta varattiin meille Bluer Bird taxi, joka vei meidät mutkattomasti kaukana sijiatsevalle uudelle Kuala Namun lentokentälle, hintaa kyydille tuli 142 000 IDR.

Banda Aceh aiport – Guesthouse in Banda Aceh

We arrived to Banda Aceh in the evening and took taxi to guesthouse we had booked ahead, travel time was about 20 minutes and cost us 80 000 IDR.

Banda Aceh – Pulau Weh

We were too lazy to walk all the way to minibus terminal back to town so we took becak driver from front of the guesthouse and headed to Uleh-leh port paying 25 000 IDR.

There we picked slow ferry instead of fast one. Slow ferries can be found on the right side of the port and there is shelter where you can buy tickets. Including all the costs ticket price was 24 500 IDR per person. Trip took about 2 hours, but ferry actually left the port 45 minutes ahead of the schedule.

After arriving to harbour in Pulau Weh we choose to make rest of the way in becak again, as first part of the trip was really comfortable. Lumba Lumba diveresort, where we stayed in Pulau Weh, was located other side of the island. It took us less than an hour to get there and cost 80 000 IDR.

Pulau Weh – Banda Aceh

The way back to Banda Aceh was pretty much the same than wehn we arrived. But we needed to book car ahead for the morning, as there wasn’t any becak drivers in ths part of the Island. So booked driver a night before and he picked us up in the morning, early enough us to catch the morning slow ferry. Taxi cost us 150 000 IDR all together and ferry 25 000 IDR each. From Uleh-leh we took becak again back to Banda Aceh city center, with couple of stops in attractions on the way, price was 30 000 IDR.

Around Banda Aceh

We only used becak to getting around in Banda Aceh (or we walked). Becak is cheaper than taxi and anywhere in town you only pay 20 000 IDR, same price than locals.

Banda Aceh – Danau Toba

We decided to take night bus to Medan, then we didn’t need to spend night there only catch the bus to Parapat first thing in the morning after arrival. Again we started trip with Becak driver, he dropped us to Terminal Bus Senti station in 15 minutes for price of 30 000 IDR.

There we bargain the bus ticket after we got confirmed that this bus should be in Medan at 8am. So we paid 150 000 IDR, started our journey at 6.30pm and arrived to Medan at 6.30am.

In Medan we arrived to Pinang Baris bus terminal and our bus to Lake Toba should leave from Amplas bus terminal other side of the city. We took our backpacks and sat one more time to becak and after about half an hour he dropped us to crossroad. Before we got out of the becak first guys offering lift did find us. We stand there in the crossroad for awhile and tried to figure out what was going on. And we actually realized that this was the bus terminal. We got to choose between minivan or public bus to Parapat.

We choose minivan after bargain the price little lower. This way we didn’t need to pay too much and we would arrive at least one hour earlier to Parapat. So next 4 hours drive we sat in the car with aircondition and it cost us 50 000 IDR per person.

Then we only had one step ahead, crossing the lake to get to Tuk Tuk. There was couple of little boats in the arbour and one of them well signed where it was going. So we jumped on the boat and enjoyed half an hour boat ride in this beautiful lake. We paid the ticket (10 000 IDR) to the guy who worked on the boat and he asked where do they drop us on the Island. We didn’t have booking ahead so we just asked to dropped in the public harbour. They did, but to the old jetty not the new one.

There we stand in the empty jetty wondering which way we should walk to look for accomodation. This was first time that there were no becak and taxi drivers offering a lift, as there wasn’t any in the island. So we lift backpacks and started walking.

Danau Toba – Bukit Lawang

The way from Banda Aceh to Lake Toba was pretty hard one with 20 hours traveling we ended up to book tourist bus straight from Parapat to Bukit Lawang. Staff in Liberta Homestay booked the ticket us, we only paid deposit for them.

In the morning we catch the first boat to Parapat from the right jetty this time and paid 10 000 IDR again. In Parapat we found the office on the corner of market and paid our bus tickets there. There was 6 customers on the bus and 4 of us was heading all the way to Bukit Lawang. With luch break it took us 8 hours and cost 160 000 IDR each person. Car droped us in the end of the road in Bukit Lawang and rest of the way we had to walk to get to the guesthouse, it was about 15 minutes walk and our guesthouse wasn’t even the last one on the path.

Bukit Lawang – Medan

After we figure out how easy it was to travel with tourist buses and not that much more expensive either, we book one again to get to Medan. We made reservation at the Guesthouse and paid it there, ready for the next morning. In the morning we walked again this 15 minutes trip and rest of the way we sat in the car all the way to our hotel in Medan. It was 3,5 hours and we paid 100 000 IDR per person.

Medan city center – Kuala Namu airport

When we asked the best way to get to the airport we got two options. Shuttle bus 250 00 IDR and taxi about 150 000 IDR. Suprisingly we choose the taxi. In the morning at the reception they called us Blue Bird Taxi to airport. Airport is quite far from the city and we ended up paying 142 000 IDR for the lift.
